  • Entry-Level Workers—Apprentices or helpers usually start at about 50 percent of the wage rate paid to experienced workers.
  • Experienced Workers—As of 1996, the U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that experienced workers earn median weekly earnings of $484.
    • The highest 10 percent earned more than $926 weekly
    • The lowest 10 percent earned less than $247 weekly

Earnings for workers in these trades may be reduced on occasion due to many factors such as poor weather, which can reduce the available time, or downturns in construction activity.
