Earnings for computer and office machine repairers will vary by geographic location and union and non-union work. To determine the going wages for this occupation in your area, consult:

According the Bureau of Labor Statistics, full-time electronic equipment repairers earned a median weekly wage of $619 in 1996.

  • The middle 50 percent earned between $444 and $802.
  • The bottom 10 percent earned less than $329.
  • The top 10 percent earned more than $979.

According to a survey of workplaces in 160 metropolitan areas:

  • Entry-level repairers earned a median of $11.50 an hour in 1995
  • Experienced repairers earned a median of $20.13 an hour

Other sources indicated that average wage for this occupation by experience is:

  • Trainees—minimum wage to $20.00 per hour
  • Experienced repairers—$7.50 and $20.00 per hour
